Adam's 5th Birthday - Flash Animation

I have never created anything in Flash before.  I used a request from my little cousin, Adam, as an opportunity to create a little something in Flash for his birthday.  Here it is...

"Up" parody triptych mural for my niece's room

I added monkeys on the left (not seen in the movie), and a ladybug in the bottom right side, both symbolic to my niece.  I gave it a very simple concept/storybook feel to it and I changed the colours to match the baby's furniture/room decor.  And yes, the house is not the one from the movie, it looks like the home where the baby lives.

Balloon Seminar sketch dump

Many of you know that aside from living in "Animationland", I also have one foot in "Balloonland" (like the main character in the new Pixar movie "UP"). I was extremely surprised to hear of such a story line, since I create balloon decorations/event decorating, when I am not animating. I can't wait to see "UP" on May 29th! I guess my balloon-related story ideas should be thrown out the window now that Pixar got their hands on such a unique story...ARGH....
Anyways, here are sketches from a balloon seminar I went to. Yes the balloon is a 3ft. balloon, so it is meant to look that big. And yes, there are balloon decorating classes/seminars!!! It seems strange to think we can possibly forget what happened in the past, since we are going through war today. Based on that, I just drew a quick little sketch that I might colour if I have time. My cousin is in Afghanistan and my prayers are with him to come home safely.

We had a great time creating it and it was great to see everyone react to it positively. Thanks for your support and suggestions to enter it into festivals!

I'm glad we were able to make everyone smile on our first day back to school!

Sono italiano

Most of you know about my Italian heritage. It felt good to get back to my roots last summer. I met many relatives I had never met before. This quick watercolour sketch was actually my grandfather's home a long time ago. It is now a stucco home, but with the help of my relatives, they described to me how it should look and I sketched it and painted it the way they told me to. I was told it turned out really close to the way it actually looked. I brought it back home as a gift for my dad, since that was the first home he lived in. I had a problem scanning it in properly, but you get the idea...

Watercolour Sketch

This was done in 2005 when I went camping. After coming across sketches like this, and being inspired by other artists, I really want to sit and paint from life again. At the time, I only had about 20 minutes to set up and paint this and then head back to the campsite. It was a fun quick sketch. I can't wait to camping again this summer!
